On Thursday Lucy McSweeney is going to Parliament to deliver the petition to Government MP, and Education Under-Secretary, David Seymour.
Our youth suicide rate for young men is double Australia’s.1 However there is a huge lack of knowledge about prevention, and recovery in the general population.
Campaign starter Lucy McSweeney says students need to be exposed to consistent mental health education in schools every year, and all the way up to year 13.
“It should be common sense to us at this point - teaching young people a balanced mental health curriculum at school is the way to influence an entire generation. Making these tough conversations mandatory will mean that a whole generation will grow up just thinking it’s normal to talk candidly about mental health and its effects.” Lucy McSweeney
Lucy has been tireless in raising awareness of the need of better mental health awareness especially for young people. She's been on TV, giving talks, and all over social media to get the word out. And this Thursday we’re going to Parliament to support Lucy’s call for better mental health education, in just two days.

Where does ActionStation get its money from?
ActionStation is independent and member led - we don't accept money from government, political parties or big business.
We rely on donations from our members to make our campaigns happen. From time to time we’ll ask our members to fund a specific campaign or a specific action (e.g. to pay for the costs of an advertisement or billboard). All donations generated by these are used for that specific project. If for any reason we are unable to spend the money on the action for which it was raised we give our members the option to get a refund, or to choose how they would like to have the money used instead.
Since launching in 2014, we have also received some money from charitable trusts and foundations. The bulk of our start up funding came from Global Green Grants.
We are a very lean organisation. Our staff team is small, with one sole purpose - to build and run winning campaigns on issues our members care about. Our operating budget is funded entirely by small donations from members.
